Newgistics launches US-Canada cross-border shipping service

Parcel shipping and returns enabler Newgistics has launched a new cross-border service for US ecommerce retailers selling to Canadian consumers. Texas-based Newgistics is partnering with California-based shipping brokers Landmark Global on the offering, which aims at a positive shipping experience for Canadians purchasing goods from US websites or catalogues.

The service promises to deal with the high costs and complexity of shipping cross-border, helping US-based retailers and ecommerce merchants to expand into a “new market hungry for American goods”.

It simplifies duties, taxes, customs clearance and the returns process, Newgistics said.

“High international shipping costs and the complexity of shipping to a foreign country have historically presented barriers to US-based retailers and ecommerce merchances looking to expand into Canada,” the company said.

“Newgistics’ technology platform simplifies the complex logistics that have previously made shipping to Canada difficult for merchants, including duties on deliveries, taxes, receiving returns and customs clearance requirements.”

Newgistics is promising seamless electronics customs clearance for its service to cut paperwork and speed items through the border.

Prepaid shipping labels can be used for returning items – in the form of Newgistics SmartLabel – while the service also offers door-to-door tracking visibility through the Newgistics Shipment Manager application.

The company said Canadian consumers could expect 3-7 day delivery for items to all provinces and territories. Outgoing parcels ship through Newgistics’ own centralised distribution centres, where parcels are transferred to Landmark Global. Once cleared through customs, parcels are delivered via Canada Post’s last mile network.
