USPS adds PayPal payment to online postage platform

The US Postal Service has extended its payment options for customers using its online postage application, Click-N-Ship, to include PayPal. The addition means US mailers can now print out shipping labels from the usps.com website paying by credit card, eBay’s invoicing service Bill Me Later or global payment platform PayPal.

PayPal means customer can make payments securely without sharing financial information with vendors.

Previously, customers could use PayPal but via the Bill Me Later service.

USPS said adding PayPal was one of several improvements to the Click-N-Ship website and part of a broader redesign of the usps.com website aiming to make the online shipping process more flexible.

Kelly Sigmon, the USPS vice president of channel access at the Postal Service, said: “Our customers have told us they would like more payment options when shipping online and that’s why we are excited to announce we are now accepting PayPal.”

USPS has seen the proportion of its retail sales carried out through alternative access, rather than traditional post offices, grow to 39%, with online access accounting for 56.6% of that expanded access.
