Exel wins Panasonic contract

With immediate effect the London-based Exel group has taken over the distribution of products and additional logistics services in Western Europe for the leisure electronics giant Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. Ltd of Japan (MEl) and its famous brand name Panasonic. Central organisation is handled through the Exel distribution facility at Veghel (Netherlands). which coordinates and handles processes all over Europe.
The contract is worth approximately EUR 4.4 million and is part of a comprehensive strategy of Panasonic Logistics & Support Europe. The leisure electronics producer intends to optimise its business processes and increase efficiency. Exel is in charge of logistics services such as receiving in-
coming goods. warehousing, order picking and packaging.The supply chain management specialist is using a warehouse management program developed by the German KDL (Hamburg) for these tasLs.
Exel will also provide value-added services for Panasonic. such as assembly.
individual packaging and labelling of goods. registration of the serial numbers, all customs formalities and distribution of the products to customers in Germany, Belgium, Austria and the various Panasonic branches throughout Western Europe.
