Lithuania Post to introduce new standard for letters

Lithuania Post to introduce new standard for letters

From the 1st August 2014, Lithuania Post will apply new dimensions and tariffs for domestic and international letters. “At the end of the last year we started looking for a solution enabling to standardise letter-post items and have tariffs covering costs incurred by Lithuania Post. In discussion with customers and the Communications Regulatory Authority, it has been decided to set two maximum sizes for letter-post items that would be treated as small letter-post items and large letter-post items.

Considering the new standards of the letter-post items and the costs incurred by the company, the tariffs set by Lithuania Post for the letter-post items have been reviewed. It is worth pointing out that the tariffs for small domestic letter-post items will not change, i.e. the presently valid tariffs for letter-post items of small size will further be applied,” Inga Dundulien, Directress of Postal Network Division of Lithuania Post, said.

On August 1st letters sent via Lithuania Post will be divided into small and large sizes. Small letters will have a maximum weight of 500g, and maximum dimensions of: 20mm for height, 381mm for length, and 305mm for width. The maximum length, width, and height of large letters will be 900mm, with any one dimension not exceeding 600mm. The maximum weight of large letters will be 2kg.

When the dimensions or weight exceed the limits set for large letters, the item will be recorded as a postal parcel.

The changes will be applicable to new business customers from the 1st August and to current customers as some stage in the future.
