Ye Olde Oak Foods appoints Exel Logistics

HoIland~based Ye Olde Oak Foods has appointed supply chain specialist Exel to manage its warehousing and secondary distribution operation.
This is seen by the company as an endorsement of Exel’s investment in the shared-user approach to logistics. Until the end of last year, Ye Old Oak was servicing UK customers from its manufacturing base in Holland. However, escalating demand of 24/7 deliveries with shorter lead times was making this unviable. The company decided to outsource the entire UK logistics operation to a single service provider. Exel is managing the new operation out of its centre in South Yorkshire, one of Europe’s first multi-user sites to focus specifically on the FMCG sector. Distribution will be to all leading multiples, independent retailers and the wholesale trade.
