Privatisation of Saudi Postal Services
Al-Bayan newspaper reported on the authorization of the plan to change the status of the Saudi postal service to an Authority managed by representatives from the private and government sectors. The government authorized this at its mid-June 2002 meeting, including the timeline for changing the postal service into the Saudi Postal Authority. Participating in this meeting was Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz. The paper noted that the Supreme Economic Council recommended in August 1999 privatization of the postal service.
