GFS adds DPD PickUp to Checkout delivery options
Global Freight Solutions (GFS) has added DPD’s PickUp parcel shop network service to the range of delivery options available via its Checkout system. Launched in September 2014, the GFS Checkout system offers a mix of standard, express and alternative delivery methods.
GFS Director Simon Veale commented: “The presence of DPD PickUp increases the degree of flexibility and proximity and is something which we are sure will be of tremendous additional appeal.”
The DPD PickUp services became operational in June and has a network of 2,500 locations across the UK.
Consumers are offered DPD PickUp as an alternative to home delivery and it is one of the ‘in-flight’ options available if customers are not at home to receive their delivery.
The network also allows shoppers to manage returns via their local DPD PickUp point.
Dwain McDonald, DPD’s CEO, commented: “Flexibility is now critical not just for purchases but in being able to meet changing circumstances once purchases have been dispatched.
“Our home delivery services have won many awards but we acknowledge that we can’t stand still and must innovate to meet the changing delivery demands of consumers and retailers into the future.
“Being included in such a broad portfolio of delivery options as GFS Checkout means that more online shops and shoppers can potentially take advantage of the benefits which DPD PickUp represents.”
