TheLorry raises US$1.5m funding

Malaysia-based on-demand logistics specialist TheLorry has announced a US$1.5m series A round, and says it will use the funding to introduce new service and prepare for regional expansion. The funding round was led by Singapore Press Holdings (SPH).

Founded in September 2014, TheLorry is a lorry (truck) booking site which connects customers looking to move items – which range from household appliances to commercial cargo – to its community of lorry and van owners.

Sources report that the “regional expansion” may start in Singapore, and then expand to Thailand.

A report published by TechinAsia today (19 January) has indicated that TheLorry is introducing a new service which will mean that “instead of only having the option to book whole lorries and vans, clients will now be able to pay for just the item or items they wish to send”.
