Parcel Connect reports “steady growth” for 2015
Parcel Connect has announced that it has delivered its one-millionth package at the end of a successful year of growth in 2015. In a statement issued today (19 January), Parcel Connect said that this “milestone achievement” represents around €75m worth of goods moved through its system since it launched at the end of 2013.
Developed through Fastway Couriers and partnered with Payzone, Parcel Connect allows customers to send, collect and return online goods directly or via Payzone shops and other Parcel Connect collection points.
Parcel Connect said that its monthly growth rate in 2015 averaged at 8%, representing an annual growth rate of close to 60%. Latest figures show that the peak Christmas season saw growth in excess of 30%. Parcel Connect said that this growth “matched the wider industry, as Irish shoppers continually move online to do the bulk of their Christmas shopping”.
The majority of Parcel Connect business facilitates online shopping by Irish consumers from UK-based retailers such as ASOS, Boohoo and MissGuided – although Parcel Connect said that it is “developing more solutions for Irish retailers to take advantage of its service”.
Commenting on its one-millionth package achievement, Danny Hughes, CEO of Parcel Connect, said: “This milestone is a significant one for Parcel Connect in what has been another year of growth for us in 2015. To have consistent month-on-month growth is a great achievement for us, and we are particularly excited to see record volumes in online shopping deliveries as consumers increasingly see the value of our personalized innovative service to support their order, delivery, collection and returns needs.
Hughes added: “Looking ahead, we have a clear roadmap that will see us average at least 50% more parcels per week by Q3 2016 and as a result I’m very confident that we’ll reach our two-millionth parcel before October Next year.”
