More competition for India’s parcel locker market
Another Indian start-up company wants to carve a niche in the smart parcel locker market. Bangalore-registered Open App TechCommerce has unveiled its Open App Smart Locker, which is designed for people living in apartment blocks who want to handle their e-commerce parcel deliveries when they are not at home.
The locker are managed by an app that is available on the Playstore called Open App.
Gotama Gowda, a co-founder of Open App Techcommerce, was quoted by the Bangalore Mirror as saying: “The box will be placed in a common area of the building. This restricts movement of delivery boys into the building thereby making the security tighter. The consumer mobile phone through the app communicates with the box and in a single touch opens the locker. The user can also have a time specified for when the locker should be open. The area has a camera to make it double secured. ”
Open App Techcommerce has reportedly claimed that a number of apartment complexes in India have already signed up to use the service. The company also reportedly plans to give the apartments complexes the lockers free of cost, and then derive its revenues from the participating e-commerce websites.
