Jersey Post installs more parcel lockers
Jersey Post has announced that it has installed a new bank of secure lockers in the west of the Island. The new bank of secure lockers, which has been installed in the car park opposite Co-operative Locale St Brelade, is the second collection point for the western parishes. The first is at Co-operative Grand Marché St Peter.
Jersey Post introduced Parcel Delivery Plus – a the service that enables customers to collect parcels from secure lockers – in August 2015.
Andy Jehan, Director of Postal Operations at Jersey Post, commented: “Globally, postal authorities are experiencing a huge change in the size, format and type of items that we are required to deliver; Jersey is no exception to this. Since 2007, we’ve seen a 56% decline in letter mail volumes but an incredible increase of almost 200% in packets and parcels. Our business has to modify processes and infrastructure in order to better accommodate the changes we are seeing, and at the same time introduce appropriate services to meet the shift in customer demand.”
Jersey Post now has over 500 secure lockers installed across the Island.
Five locker banks have now been installed at Broad Street and Rue des Pres post offices, the B&Q car park on Queen’s Road, at Co-operative Grand Marché St Peter and Locale St Brelade, with two further locations to be launched later in the year.
