Green light for Ukrposhta 2020 development strategy

Ukraine’s Minister of Infrastructure, Volodymyr Omelian, has approved Ukrposhta’s Development Strategy Plan until 2020. In a statement issued by the Ukrainian postal operator today (8 June), Igor Tkachuk, the head of Ukrposhta, said: “This strategy identifies the priority areas of reforming the company, shows the fastest way to achieve goals, creates requirements for the development of infrastructure enterprises, underlines the importance of using IT systems and improving of industrial processes, and also contains offers for regulatory policy of postal services.”

Meanwhile, Ukrposhta announced earlier this month that it has been working in partnership the Israeli company Flytrex Aviation to test the use of drones for parcel deliveries in Bucha, a city in Ukraine’s Kiev Oblast.

Commenting on the drone tests, Tkachuk said: “It was only a matter of time before drone delivery became a reality. We are thrilled to be at the forefront of this postal revolution and the start of testing drone deliveries.

“Our customers expect efficiency in their deliveries – low costs, speedy delivery, no-hassle experiences. We believe that drones will not only bring our customers the satisfaction of easy deliveries, but also the chance to fly into the future of postal services.”

And rounding up our Ukrainian news bulletin, local media source Interfax has reported that Ukrposhta has signed an agreement with its counterpart in Kazakhstan to speed the delivery of e-commerce parcels between the two countries.

Ukrposhta’s Tkachuk was quoted by Interfax as saying: “The Republic of Kazakhstan is the first country has signed an agreement on the bilateral exchange of “Consignment” international clustered parcels. This new delivery service from Ukrposhta opens an opportunity for Ukrainian online stores to comfortably work at the international level, and increase the number of new clients.”
