Swiss Post decides not to implement OTC realignment

Swiss Post has announced today (31 August) that it will not implement the “re-alignment” of its over-the-counter transactions that it has been trialling in selected post offices. Essentially, Swiss Post experimented with the idea of using some of its counters as fast lanes for  postal transactions that could be completed speedily, while others were turned into “special advice counters” for more time-intensive requirements, such as opening a PostFinance account or concluding a new mobile phone subscription.

In a statement issued today (31 August), the postal operator said: “Upon completion of the pilot project, Swiss Post analysed the results in detail. After weighing up all the factors, especially the impact on salaries for employees, Executive Management decided not to implement the project.

“The positives drawn from the project will however be incorporated into the ongoing development of over-the-counter transactions.

“This will take place, as usual, in dialogue with employees and social partners.”
