eBay update: Royal Mail protections lifted

eBay has announced that from 1 March it will stop protecting Royal Mail Tracked 24 and Royal Mail Tracked 48 services from late delivery rate misses. In a statement posted on its General Announcements board on Friday (27 January), eBay explained the background to the change.

According to eBay, the tracking information that it received from Royal Mail was incomplete. Consequently, in order to protect sellers, eBay has been removing any late deliveries for orders that used Royal Mail Tracked 24 and Royal Mail Tracked 48 services, as long as the sellers added tracking information in My eBay.

However, eBay continued: “We’ve worked with Royal Mail and we’re now receiving up-to-date tracking information for Royal Mail Tracked 24 and Royal Mail Tracked 48 services. So from 1 March 2017, we’ll stop protecting those services from late delivery rate misses.”
eBay added that it will continue to protect Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For and Royal Mail 2nd Class Signed For services – and it will let its UK sellers know when it has reached a solution there too.
