Posta Uganda unveils new service
In the wake of increasing competition in the postal sector, the recently incorporated but still government owned Posta Uganda is diversifying its services. Posta Uganda has launched a new service it has termed Easy Mail.
According to Mary Mudaka, the company’s communications manager, letters will be delivered to physical addresses of customers after being picked from their post office boxes or being received through the postal system.
She insists it is different from courier services, which deliver letters between physical addresses. This service will still work via the post office system. The system will initially operate in Kampala within a radius of 15 kilometers.
Use of this service will require an annual subscription of Shs250,000.
The move will see Posta Uganda increase its revenue as required by government.
After the success of the service in Kampala, it will be expanded countrywide.
