Charlie Shiels, Geopost UK’s director of risk and transport said; “It is vital for the company’s legislative compliance that our fuel tank upgrading and replacement programme is completed on time to specifications set out by the legislation.”
Although the ultimate deadline for conformity to legislation is September 2005, companies are obligated to ensure fuel tanks located within a pre-determined distance from a fresh watercourse ways comply with the regulatory standard by September 2003. To date all of Geopost UK’s fuel tanks located near watercourse ways have been upgraded to meet the September 2003 deadline.
