Geodis invests in UK facility

A major investment by Geodis in the company’s UK operations centre at High Wycombe includes a new air cargo security screening system.

The new system will enable Geodis to provide its own clearance for clients in line with the National Aviation Security procedures. Being able to x-ray shipments on behalf of customers is expected to avoid delays incurred at airports for the screening of ‘unknown cargo’.

The new move, which sees air, sea and road services operating from one centre, will offer customers a complete, international, multi-modal approach.

Jamie Cuthbert. MD Geodis UK, said: “It is important that our customers are provided with the same quality-led distribution service, wherever they are based. To this end, our behind-the-scenes investment will ensure that customers receive a seamless solution for national and international collection and delivery.”

Cuthbert added that the more efficient delivery schedule means later cut-off times for the company’s trunker network, closer to flight departure times.

The centre not only provides Geodis’ air operation with additional capacity and access to the company’s extensive collection and delivery fleet, it will also be home to the company’s improved customer service department for air, road and sea operations.

“Expanding our customer service operations, coupled with investment in the new air cargo security screening equipment, is further proof of our ability to provide a superior service to that of the competition,” concludes Cuthbert.
