Swiss Post joins in funding round for drone delivery startup Matternet

Swiss Post is among the investors who took part in a $16m Series A funding round for the drone delivery specialist company Matternet.

The funding round was led by Boeing HorizonX Ventures, with additional participation from Sony Innovation Fund and Levitate Capital.

As previously reported by Post&Parcel, Swiss Post and Matternet have worked together on drone pilot programmes, delivering medical samples to hospitals in Switzerland.

In a statement issued today (26 June), Brian Schettler, managing director of Boeing HorizonX Ventures, commented: “Matternet’s technology and proven track record make the development of a safe, global autonomous air mobility system a near-term reality.

“Our investment will allow Matternet to scale its operations while strengthening Boeing’s position as a leader in next-generation transportation solutions.”
