Doddle Click & Collect to be offered in every Debenhams store

The Doddle Click & Collect service, which is currently being offered across 50 Debenhams stores, will be rolled out across Debenhams’ full estate of 165 UK stores, with the majority live by Spring 2019.

The roll out means that UK shoppers will be able to collect and return parcels from over 50 Doddle retail partners including ASOS, Amazon, Missguided and Wiggle at any Debenhams store.

The partnership supports Debenhams’ strategic goal of offering customers an improved in-store experience through a redesigned service model, and will provide valuable services to existing customers as well as help drive new customers into store.

For Doddle, the partnership gives a valuable presence in anchor positions in many of the biggest shopping centres and most visited high streets in the UK, supporting its drive to provide customers with ever greater choice and convenience.

During the trial period over 150,000 Doddle customers chose a Debenhams store to make their collection or returns demonstrating the popularity of the service.

Crucially, almost a third (30%) of those customers went on to make incremental in-store purchases with an average basket value of £25.  Nearly half (40%) of tracked transactions made by Doddle customers were made by individuals who hadn’t purchased in a Debenhams store before demonstrating the power of the partnership to drive footfall.

Whilst Doddle’s partnership with Debenhams offers UK shoppers parcel pick up and drop off points in key regional shopping centres and high streets, a similar partnership with Morrisons gives Doddle customers the convenience of combining parcel collection and returns with supermarket shopping.

Talking about the launch of Doddle’s service across Debenhams’ full estate, Doddle CEO Tim Robinson said: “This partnership is the ultimate win-win.  It enables us to offer the convenience led UK omni-channel shopper an ever-greater number of high profile, convenient and trusted locations to collect and return parcels at and enables Debenhams to attract a high spending new demographic into its stores.

“The conversion of that footfall into such meaningful sales during the trial period demonstrates the crucial role Click & Collect services like ours can play during this critical time for the UK high street.”

Commenting on the decision to roll out Doddle’s services across their entire estate, Ross Clemmow – Managing Director, Retail, Food, Digital and Events at Debenhams commented: “Thanks to this ground-breaking partnership, customers now have the convenience of being able to collect and return their online shopping from over 50 retailers from Debenhams at the same time as discovering our re-imagined shopping experience.

“Partnering with Doddle was the natural choice.  Their leading tech allows us to offer a seamless Click & Collect service whilst their focus on customer service aligned perfectly with ours.  The fact that the partnership has driven six figure parcel volumes within the first few months of trial provides testimony to the fact that together we’re providing a service UK consumers really value.”
