Chronopost to provide new guaranteed service

CEP provider Chronopost, part of the French La-Poste Group, has introduced a new service, the “Chrono Premium International” product which guarantees that parcels and letters sent to major commercial centres in Europe arrive before 10:30 hrs the following day.
Currently, the new service is offered only in France, Denmark and the Netherlands. However, the CEP company intends to increase the network of “Chrono Premium International” to Germany, Belgium and Portugal in the near future.

The U.S. Postal Service may soon file a negotiated service agreement with the Postal Rate Commission, postal officials said yesterday at the ratemaking summit in Potomac, MD. USPS chief marketing officer Anita J. Bizzotto said the agency “is getting close to signing on with a company,” though she did not offer specifics.

Pitney Bowes Inc. agreed Thursday to acquire PSI Group Inc., which prepares, sorts and organizes mail to earn postal discounts and expedite delivery for its customers, for $130 million. PSI will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Pitney Bowes, continuing to operate under its current management.

Uk International parcels and packets market

Six carriers account for 71% of the UK international parcels and packets market, according to research by Andrew Lester & Associates. This figure was revealed in the Pac Trac programme, a market monitoring study based on interviews with 500 UK shippers during the March- May period. It shows that DHL held the lion’s share (32%), followed by UPS (20%) and TNT (10%). Together the Royal Mail and Parcelforce have 5% share of the market. When asked which international carrier has the best reputation for quality, the respondents voted FedEx as the winner, followed by DHL and UPS.
