Royal Mail set to offer 'DIY' mailing plan

Consignia is planning to launch an online DIY direct mail service for the small business market, which it claims cannot afford to employ a direct marketing agency.
Royal Mail denies the move brings it into conflict with direct marketing agencies, maintaining that the UK’s 2.8 million small businesses are not being reached by the agency market.
A tender has been released by Consignia, asking for an agency to develop the Web-based service, provisionally called DM online, that will allow businesses to design campaigns and download them.

Deutsche Post not considering stake in CargoLifter

Deutsche Post World Net AG denied it has held talks with CargoLifter AG on an advertising cooperation as well as on taking a stake in the financially troubled airship maker.
“Deutsche Post has not considered such a takeover and is currently not considering doing so,” said the logistics giant in a statement.
Earlier this week, CargoLifter denied reports it would have to file for insolvency.

DPWN Workers are Prepared to Strike

German union Verdi said on Friday it had called on workers at postal and logistics group Deutsche Post AG to prepare for a strike after a round of pay negotiations ended without a firm offer. ‘We are very disappointed because the employer does not follow its words with actions,’ the union said in a statement.

Still no resolution to Chinese postal dispute

Chinese postal authorities and international express carriers have not yet settled a dispute over plans by the Chinese to regulate foreign companies and claim a monopoly over the small package business. “Press reports that this issue has been resolved are premature,” said John Flick, a spokesman for United Parcel Service. “We are still very much opposed to regulations that have been set up by the China Post.”
