Swiss Post Office to close Yellowworld consumer portal, related E-Fulfillment activities

The Swiss post office has announced the closure of its Yellowworld consumer portal and related e-fulfillment activities, which will now be carried out via its corporate website. The post office will use its website as a pure information and distribution channel for its various services. The post office had initially been planning to invest around SFr200 mil in Yellowworld.

Chronopost Portugal posts good results

Chronopost Portugal posted a turnover of EUR 21.75 million in 2001 and aims at passing the EUR 25 million mark this year, Olivier Establet. CEO of Chronopost Portugal, said recently.
The market leader will open a new depot in Alfena near Porto this year for the B2B parcel and document sector (38% market share) and upgrade its internet presence.

Deutsche Post considers expansion in EU

Deutsche Post AG, the German postal service operator, plans to take advantage plans by Brussels to open up the EU telecommunications market. The EU has now decided to reduce the upper weight limit for monopolies on letter deliveries to 100 grams on 1 January 2003, and further to 50 grams on 1 January 2006. Deutsche Post reports that it has already proved its abilities on an ‘extensively deregulated domestic market’ and that it plans, gradually, to make use of potential offered by other European markets.

Nine-year deal for UCI

UCI Logistics has been awarded a nine year contract with MAPA Spontex, a manufacturer of cleaning tools. The deal is a renewal and extension of an existing contract, and sees UCI appointed as the lead logistics provider of Spontex in the UK.
