The European Commission said Wednesday it was fining the Belgian postal service 2.5 million euros (2.23 million dollars) for unfairly using its monopoly powers to compete with the private British courier service Hays.

Post Danmark, the Danish post office, is one step closer to entering extensive partnerships after its public servant employees have agreed to conditions similar to those of all other Post Danmark employees, giving up special conditions normally given to public servants. The public servants had previously indirectly prevented Post Denmark from entering partnerships.
