Marketing Week has noted that Osterreichische Post AG, the Austrian post office, has unveiled a new store format called Post.at. In addition to traditional postal services, the outlet offers a range of up to 1,000 office and stationery products, books and CDs. Four Post.at outlets are currently operating, the latest of which opened in Vienna last week.

Ansett put into voluntary receivership

Ansett Airlines has been placed into voluntary receivership by Air New Zealand, its owner, after Qantas Airways quit talks to buy Australia’s debt-burdened second-ranked carrier.

After the Qantas rejection Air NZ suffered a further knock-back when the Australian government refused to underwrite a restructuring of Ansett’s operations into a lower-cost airline called Ansett 2.

POSTAL SERVICE PROPOSES CHANGE IN POSTAGE RATES

Aggressive Cost Cutting Results In Lower Than Projected Request.
The Board of Governors of the Postal Service said today they will propose a three-cent increase in the price of a First-Class stamp as part of an overall rate increase request, which is less than 9 percent. The request will be formally submitted to the Postal Rate Commission later this month and is well below initial predictions of 10 to15 percent. For the past 30 years, the price of stamps have tracked the Consumer Price Index
