Setting a Sale Date German government's majority stake in Deutsche Post may be sold next year

The German government plans to introduce legislation that would allow it to sell its majority stake in Deutsche Post as early as next year. Legislation expected to be enacted by the end of the year would reverse an earlier law that requires the government to hold a majority stake in the postal service for at least five years after its initial public offering, which was held last November.

Consignia, the state-owned mail company formerly known as the Post
Office, has been accused of deliberately stamping on its competition. The
accusation comes from AICES, the trade body that represents companies which
include the giants DHL, FedEx, TNT, UPS and Hays. The body is incensed because
Consignia is suing potential rival Hays although the Government and the
European Union is committed to deregulation.

Consignia selects ATG to support new e-channel

Art Technology Group Inc., (ATG NASDAQ), is to provide Consignia, formerly The Post Office Group, with its full suite of Dynamo e-commerce applications.

Consignia will use ATG’s systems to support a new transactional e-channel, due to be launched later this year. The goal is to strengthen Consignia’s online presence, providing a greater level of functionality and customer centricity.

Consignia is the latest blue chip company to select ATG’s e-commerce applications. Other clients include Kingfisher, HSBC, Sony and General Motors.

Transatlantic Lynx: Partnership with USPS

Lynx Express has entered into a three year agreement to jointly pronlote and sell a United States Postal Service (USPS) product called Priority Mail in the UK and Europe.
The parties will collaborate on branding, sales and marketing initiatives, and packaging design, with the goal being to capture a substantial share of the west bound distribution market over the next three years.

CDC could invest in French post office's new holding company (La CDC pourrait entrer au capital du nouveau holding financier de La Poste)

The French deposit office CDC is said to have agreed to acquire a stake in the French post office (La Poste)’s new holding company, SR2, if La Poste asks it to do so. The ball is believed to be in the court of the post office, which says that it has nothing to announce for the moment. Patrick Werner, La Poste’s managing director, points out that his organisation has already formed partnerships with CDC within the insurance company CNP Assurances and Sogeposte, in centralising La Poste’s Livret A savings account, and in refinancing its property loans.

Postwatch moots agency search in information push

hiring an ad agency as it seeks to inform the public about the
changes taking place in the mail delivery market. Postwatch, the brand name for the Consumer Council for Postal
Services, was launched in March to monitor the performance of
licensed postal operators, including Consignia, the parent company
of Royal Mail, and the Post Office.
