UPS stakes claim to forwarding

United Parcel Service staked its claim to the forwarding and customs brokerage business Thursday when it closed on its acquisition of Fritz Cos., and revealed that it had also acquired a stable of smaller customs brokerage companies specializing in trade with Canada and Mexico.

Those companies will be combined with Fritz and UPS’s existing freight forwarder business in a new, as yet unnamed unit, with an estimated $750 million in annual revenue.

La Poste Airline Projects Turnover: 147.6m Euros

French post office airline subsidiary Europe Airpost, formerly L’Aeropostale, said it is forecasting a 2001 turnover of 147.6 million euros. The vast majority of this figure, around 95 percent, will be accounted for by the airline’s domestic air cargo network which carries around 500 tonnes of mail and express shipments daily on behalf of La Poste and its subsidiaries

Majority Share for Canada Post

Canada Post is to acquire a majority interest in Progistix Solutions, a wholly-owned third party logisics subsidiary of Bell Canada. CP is partnered with Intelcom Courier Canada, a Montreal based, same day delivery and logistics solutions company, which is also acquiring an interest in Progistix.
