FedEx Corp. Reports Record Revenue and Earnings; Fourth Quarter Net Income Increases 19 Percent

FedEx Corporation today reported earnings of USD 0.92 per diluted share for the quarter ended May 31, compared to USD 0.78 per diluted share reported last year.
FedEx Corp. reported the following consolidated results for the fourth quarter: revenue of USD5.83 billion, up 8% from USD5.42 billion the previous year, operating income of USD492 million, up 18% from USD416 million a year ago, net income of USD280 million, up 19% from last year’s USD236 million. Total average daily package volume at FedEx Express and FedEx Ground grew a combined 5% year over year for the quarter, due to continued strong growth at Ground and in international express shipments.

UK Royal Mail to cut lorry journeys

The Royal Mail said its lorry journeys will be cut from 8,500 a day to 2,500 under its plans for a more efficient distribution network, reducing its carbon dioxide emissions by 30%.

There would be no job cuts at the main rail/road sites at Willesden in north London, Wishaw near Glasgow and Warrington, Cheshire, and there would be no new job losses anywhere in the Royal Mail.

Unions urge rethink on plan to scrap UK mail by rail

Union leaders today urged the Government to halt a controversial move to stop transporting mail by rail, warning of a “disaster” for jobs and the environment.

Communication and rail unions joined forces with Labour MPs to launch a campaign to save mail trains, which the Post Office plans to phase out in a bid to save GBP90 million a year.
