UPN reaches pallet target

The United Pallet Network (UK) says it has seen 217% growth in the number of pallets moved over the past year.
Speaking at the group’s second annual conference last weekend, managing director Andrew Spenser said he is delighted with the progress it has made since its launch in 2001, and moving from its original base in Nottinghamshire to its new hub in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire.

Small firms to get Australia Post discounts

Small businesses can send their mail in bulk and receive legitimate discounts from Australia Post under proposed laws introduced into parliament.

The practice of giving bulk discounts to small business already exists but is not written into legislation.

The new laws also allow document exchanges to carry letters between their members’ premises and the exchange, again legitimising an existing practice many small businesses use as a complementary service to Australia Post.

Estonian Mail Handling Co to invest Eur16m in innovation

Eesti Post (Estonian Post) intends to invest in 2003-2005 almost 250 million kroons (EUR 15.97) in the development of postal and logistical services according to a new development plan.

CEO Alo Streimann said 53 percent of the investments will be channeled into developing logistical services, 19 percent into modernizing the production infrastructure and 10 percent into purchasing and replacing mail handling equipment.

Pakistan Post Office sign for bill collection

Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) and Pakistan Post Office (PPO) have signed an agreement under which the latter will collect the telephone bills at post offices throughout the country.

The agreement will be effective from July 1, 2003.
