Pakistan Post Office sign for bill collection

Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) and Pakistan Post Office (PPO) have signed an agreement under which the latter will collect the telephone bills at post offices throughout the country.

The agreement will be effective from July 1, 2003.

Mashkoor Hussain, Member Business Development and Customer Care PTCL, and Agha Masood Hassan, DG, Post Office, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations.

The Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, Akhtar Ahmed Bajwa, Chairman, PTCL, and other officials were also present on the occasion.

Under the agreement, the PTCL customers can also deposit their bills at the post offices throughout the country, apart from banks.

The Minister lauded this agreement and hope that due to this facility PTCL customers, especially those in rural areas, will benefit. “It is my dream to provide an opportunity to the people to pay their utility bills without standing in long queues,” he added.

Pakistan Post Office shall utilise the services of around 3,000 post office branches and GPOs in the cities and rural areas. This will provide great relief, particularly to customers in rural and remote areas with no bank facilities.
