Royal Mail & Jaywing to launch Jaywing Central

Royal Mail have announced the launch of a joint venture with data services company, Alphanumeric Limited (trading as Jaywing). The new company, Jaywing Central Limited (“Jaywing Central”), will provide a communications management solution for direct marketers.

Jaywing Central will be the first true end-to-end multi-channel communications management resource for medium and large companies. Jaywing Central will be looking to improve performance in acquisition, achieve improved renewal rates, and increased effectiveness in direct marketing through segmented customer communications management.

Spanish Courier Industry Forecasts 4.465 Bln Euro Turnover for 2003

Spanish courier industry forecasts a 4.465 bln euro ($5.048 bln) turnover for 2003, up 8.8 pct year-on-year, Spanish consultancy DBK said.

The forecast year-on-year increase in turnover for 2004 stands at 10 pct. Delivery of business parcels will register a 9.5 pct year-on-year rise in turnover in 2003. The turnover from delivery of business parcels is expected to rise by 10.7 pct year-on-year to 2.96 bln euro ($3.346 bln) in 2004. Delivery of industrial parcels will register a 7.7 pct increase in turnover in 2003 and 8.9 pct in 2004.

UK postal strike looms as talks break down

Last-ditch talks aimed at averting the first national mail strike for seven years were adjourned tonight – just hours away from a crucial ballot result.

Negotiations between the Communication Workers Union and Royal Mail managers broke up at conciliation service Acas without any sign of agreement, a spokesman said.

Postal workers across the country are currently awaiting the result of the vote – expected to be announced by the CWU tomorrow – which could see walkouts begin as early as next week.
