Malaysia’s Khazanah buys 6.3 pct of Pos Malaysia

State owned investment arm Khazanah Nasional Bhd has bought a 6.3 pct stake in Pos Malaysia & Services Holdings Bhd for an undisclosed price, emerging as a new substantial shareholder in the postal company. In a filing to the Exchange, Khazanah said it bought 31.92 mln shares from the open market on June 3. No other details were given.

UPS to construct additional 20 logistics facilities in China

UPS will construct additional 20 logistics facilities in China in 2005 and 2006, David Abney, president of UPS International, was quoted as saying.
In the future, the company will have 60 logistics infrastructures in the country. The group had injected USD 500 million in the construction of infrastructure in the past several years.

DHL gets Ford Motor Indonesia contract

DHL has been awarded a contract by Ford Motor Indonesia to manage the auto manufacturer’s nationwide warehousing and distribution of automotive spare parts and accessories. The contract, which is for an initial period of two years, is expected to significantly enhance Ford Motor Indonesia’s quality spare part services to its customers. Additionally, Ford Motor expects improvements in productivity, efficiency, and cost savings utilizing DHL’s proven supply chain expertise and resources. Ford Motor’s supply chain requirements are managed by DHL Global Customer Solutions (GCS). GCS provides globally coordinated logistics solutions for DHL’s top global customers across all modes of transport, globally from source to shelf.

Govt to provide all support to Postal Service to ensure better service

Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz Friday said the government will provide all support and resources to Pakistan Postal Service to enable it provide better and more efficient service to the people. He made these observations while reviewing the performance of Pakistan Post Office here at the Prime Minister House. The Prime Minister said that the post office was an important department which should be run with the mission to provide services to the people. Post Office provides useful services to the masses like mailing letters, banking, life insurance and accepting utility bills, he added. An expert has recently been appointed by UNDP on the directions of the Prime Minister to suggest recommendations for further improvement in the services of the Postal department and introduce modernization and automation to make it a world class organization.
