China Post teams up with Western Union

Western Union, the world’s largest remittance company, has joined hands with Beijing Post Office, and set up its largest flagship company in Beijing recently. According to Western Union, it will merely take 15 minutes to accomplish the international remittance in Beijing after the cooperation with China Post. Lan Marsh, the senior vice president of Western Union Asia-Pacific Region, remarked that the two parties planned to establish 360 outlets in Beijing and more than 20,000 outlets across the country before the year end of next year. Thailand Post to Raise Rates

Thailand Post will increase rates for domestic special postal services next Monday to generate more revenue for major business expansion to compete with global leading transport companies when the industry is open for full competition in three years. Thailand Post director Anusorn Tamajai said that although the rates for special postal services would increase, redemptions in case of loss would also go up. Domestic special postal services include express mail service or EMS, registered mail, certified mail and insured mail.

FedEx moves local Asian markets to region-wide loyalty plan

International courier company FedEx is rolling out a new regionwide online loyalty programme to encourage closer relationships with its small- and medium-sized customers. The programme will replace local loyalty schemes which currently operate differently in national markets. “With a consolidated programme, there is a common brand identity, which will have a greater impact and awareness among customers,” commented Malcolm Sullivan, VP of marketing and communications for FedEx’s Asia Pacific division. The FedEx Reward Centre Programme is currently being piloted in Singapore, China and Japan prior to rollout over an unspecified period across Asia-Pacific. The scheme’s online platform will also make it cheaper to run than existing programmes, Sullivan said, with savings from bulk purchases and sharing capital equipment and operations.
