DHL wins logistics contract with HP Korea

DHL’s logistics division has been awarded a four-year contract with Hewlett Packard Korea. The contract covers HP’s entire product range in Korea, including PCs and related equipment. According to DHL Danzas Air & Ocean, the contract is particularly significant since it sees the implementation of the next-generation HP MUJU online logistics platform. The new one-stop platform enables paperless, online sharing of information between HP and their logistics supplier.

FedEx moves Asia hub to China

FedEx will move its Asia-Pacific transport and distribution centre from the Philippines to Guangzhou, China, the Guangzhou Daily has reported. According to FedEx, the lease of the eight-year-old Asia-Pacific hub in Subic Bay in the Philippines expires in 2007, and the runway and apron at Subic Bay have limited expansion room due to its deep water and hillside boundaries.

Postal savings proposal to provide banking services rejected

The central bank has rejected a proposal by Postal Savings Service Co. to provide banking services, saying the current rules disallow companies in the sector to get involved in what only banks can do. In a document just sent to the Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Corporation, the parent firm of Postal Savings Service, the central bank says the corporation’s affiliate can only mobilize deposits.The company is banned from other banking services like lending, domestic and international payments, and credit card issuance and acceptance.
