Brazilian Correios launches Sedex Hoje and Sedex Mundi

The Brazilian postal service company Correios (Empresa Brasileira de Correios e Telegrafos) is launching two express delivery services in Rio de Janeiro, Sedex Hoje (local deliveries in the same day) and Sedex Mundi (deliveries to 215 countries), investing RD30mil resources in equipment. Those two new services are included in the Sedex line, with Sedex, e-Sedex and Sedex 10.

Brazil ECT launches new services to increase market share

Brazilian state-run postal service company Empresa Brasileira de Correios e Telegrafos (ECT) will launch on November 4, 2004 the new services named Sedex Hoje and Sedex Mundi, aiming to increase its market share. ECT’s Sedex Hoje service envisages deliveries in the same day and will involve the company in a very saturated business segment in the country. Sedex Mundi will help the company start express deliveries to 215 countries worldwide from the present 170, thus making the company compete with large international firms, operating in Brazil.

Gearing up for a strong focus on sales and marketing in 2005 and promising to maintain its leadership position in the Latin America region, DHL has appointed Mariano Dall’Orso, a veteran in strategic planning and development as the head of the Caribbean, Central and South America (CCSA) Sales and Marketing group.

Dall’Orso will be responsible for developing DHL’s sales and marketing strategy for the CCSA region and overseeing targeted initiatives that will help the organisation meet its customers’ demands and needs. Among the areas which Dall’Orso will manage are advertising, product development, customer service, ecommerce and pricing.

Brazilian Flash Courier doubles franchise chain

Flash Courier has decided to expand its franchise chain and by this means assure a 100percent growth per year as of 2004. The company currently holds 70 master-franchised and plans 150 by 2007. When it started up ten years ago. Flash used to deliver 50 units per month but in June 2004 it reached the mark of 473,000 units. The company predicts 600,000 deliveries per month in July and believes it may reach 800,000 in December.
