UPS to invest $32-million in Vancouver airport

United Parcel Service is spending $32-million on a new facility at the Vancouver airport. The 125,000-square-foot plant is expected to open in early 2004 and will bring under one roof the operations of three of the city’s four plants with room for 400 employees, an increase of 100 from the company’s current staff in the city.

Canada Post Earns Seventh Consecutive Profit

In its 2001 Annual Report tabled today in
Parliament, Canada Post Corporation reported a net income of $67 million on
revenues of $4.4 billion for the fiscal period ended December 31, 2001. That’s
an increase of $30 million from the $37 million recorded in the comparative
period a year ago. The Corporation changed its fiscal year end from the last
Saturday in March to the last day in December, resulting in a nine-month
fiscal period from April 1, 2001 to December 31, 2001.

Air Canada Renews Agreement with Canada Post

Air Canada and Canada Post Corporation have renewed their long standing cargo and passenger services contract. The multi- million dollar contract that includes carriage of mail and corporate passenger travel has been extended for a further five years for domestic service, three years for transborder and international service and two years for corporate travel. As the carrier for Canada Post’s regular and Premium service mail, Air Canada will carry over 35 million kilograms of mail annually utilizing over 200 daily flights.

Canada Post Admail Rates Increase April 1

Canada Post Corp. increases domestic rates today by a weighted average of 3.4 percent for addressed admail, including catalogs and other categories used by direct marketers, and 2 percent for unaddressed admail.
Canada Post increases rates for addressed and unaddressed admail every year at this time. Last year, rates for addressed admail increased 5.2 percent, and unaddressed admail increased 2 percent.
