Irish parcel courier Nightline has become Business Post’s partner in the republic, operating both domestic and UK/Ireland services.
Business Post previously served County Dublin directly and used subcontractors for the other counties. Nightline also becomes the Irish partner in Business Post’s new European road service, Eurodis.

UK Ace Express reveals 24-hour trump card

Forwarder Ace Express is set to break into the pallet market with its own 24hour domestic service. “It will be an extension of the ‘heart attack’ jobs we currently take on, to and from the UK. I’m talking about the rush jobs – that’s where we make our money, ” said Mark Tracey, sales and marketing director.
“Customers have been pushing for a domestic service for a while because they are having to deal with 10 to 12 different hauliers at a time. It could be a 2pm pick up in Donegal that requires delivery by start of the next day in Kerry.

DHL signs three year contract with Saudi Aramco Shell Refinery

The Saudi Aramco Shell Refinery in Jubail (Sasref) has awarded express and logistics company DHL an exclusive three year contract for the provision of fully integrated logistics services. Under the terms of the contract a DHL representative is based at Sasref with full responsibility for processing all of the refinery’s purchase orders, monitoring the purchase process, tracking transportation and registering receipt of orders.

DHL plans restructuring measures in France

DHL, the transport and logistics subsidiary of German postal service Deutsche Post, is planning extensive restructuring measures in France. The company has signed an agreement with trade unions relating to its plans, which are expected to affect up to 10 percent of its total 12,000 staff in France. The aim of the plan is to improve the company’s operating margins and the quality of its service.

Greek CEP market growing strongly

The four CEP giants FedEx, DHL,TNT and UPS with their international presence generated the ‘lion‘s share‘ of sales, reporting a total of EUR 35 million. This is especially the case with DHL, itself a subsidiary of Deutsche Post, clearly the market leader in Greece as it alone controls 60% of the Greek domestic market. Other domestic market leaders in this sector include companies like ACS and Speed Air. Alongside these privately run enterprises there is also the state owned Post Elta with its subsidiary Elta Express, which entered the CEP market in the year 2000.
