UK Ace Express reveals 24-hour trump card
Forwarder Ace Express is set to break into the pallet market with its own 24hour domestic service. “It will be an extension of the ‘heart attack’ jobs we currently take on, to and from the UK. I’m talking about the rush jobs – that’s where we make our money, ” said Mark Tracey, sales and marketing director.
“Customers have been pushing for a domestic service for a while because they are having to deal with 10 to 12 different hauliers at a time. It could be a 2pm pick up in Donegal that requires delivery by start of the next day in Kerry.
“This is the kind of job we’ll fufill, those where you don’t set much notice, ” he said.
Ace believes it will have the upper hand over pallet networks. Tracey said: “Most of them work as a network of franchises; by doing it ourselves we have better control.” Premises in Coolock will soon be vacated for a t1m facility just off the M50 at Kinsealy. “Our new site is not far from the Dublin Port Tunnel, which will be good when it opens in 2005, as long as it’s made bigger to accommodate our double-stack trailers, ” said Tracey.
