TNT and WE International today announced that they have completed the sale of ID Company Fashion BV (IDCF). Parties agreed not to disclose financial details. TNT decided to divest IDCF as the company’s activities are non-core to TNT.
IDCF is one of the leading suppliers of corporate wear in the Netherlands.

Plimsoll Publishing Courier Report

A new analysis of the UK courier industry has been presented in a 515-page report from specialists Plimsoll Publishing.
The report takes the country’s largest 150 operators by turnover and scrutinizes their financial performance over tile last four years. Those businesses account for 91 per cent of the courier sector, up dons 86 per cent four years ago but it is a hard-core 33 that have apparently dominated a resurgence in the market.
One upshot of this, say the findings, is that 91 companies will struggle to keep their
business on a firm financial footing, while 26 arc facing financial distress.
The report is priced at £500, but is available to readers of
Despath Manger at a discount of five per cent.

European courier urged to put up hub in Subic

The Philippine Government is wooing a European courier service firm to put up shop in Subic as the scheduled transfer of Federal Express’ Asian hub from the freeport to China nears. An official privy to the matter said authorities had invited the company to visit possible sites in Subic and assess opportunities for a hub of operations here through their respective distribution network. The official declined to name the firm, saying it might get turned off with the premature publicity. With American firms Fedex operating a hub in Subic and UPS in Clark special economic zone, the country is hosting half of the four biggest package delivery and supply chain service providers in the world. The remaining two are Netherlands-headquartered TNT NV and Germany’s DHL International, both of which already have presence here.

FedEx sets up subsidiary in Nanjing

FedEx has announced the opening of Nanjing subsidiary aimed to further strengthen the presence in Eastern China. The new company, located in Jiangning Development Zone in Nanjing City, covers a plot of land as large as 2,340 square meters. Its operating station is composed of professional import & export sorting and picking system, storage area, and operation sector and it is able to handle nearly 1,000 parcels every hour at the fastest speed.
