TNT Logistics expands UK contract with Anglian Water

TNT Logistics, which has worked with Anglian Water Services since 2001, is expanding its role to include inventory management under a new two-year contract. The company provides a dedicated fleet of vehicles to deliver engineering parts, pipes and meters throughout the Anglian region. It manages a Peterborough warehouse and will now also place orders with manufacturers for delivery into the warehouse or direct to site.

Transportes Azkar reports increase in sales

Spanish transport and logistics company Transportes Azkar has announced a marked increase in interim sales. The half year figure rose by 14.6% over the comparable period in 2003 reaching EUR 153 million. In contrast, the companys net profit sank by 10% despite a EUR 22 million rise in gross profit. Azkar is investing in its Spanish network by establishing new distribution centres in north eastern Catalonia. Over the past year it invested a total of EUR 17 million in this region.

DHL, Jamaica Post now in partnership

The intertnational courier service provider, DHL Express Inc., through its Jamaican subsidiary, DHL Jamaica Limited, is now a commercial partner of Jamaica Post. DHL has drop-off facilities at four post offices in the Corporate Area. The post office drop-off points fill a gap in the DHL operations in Jamaica. The most significant benefit to DHL and customers of the post office who use the service is convenient access to an international service.

TNT appoints automotive logistics manager

TNT Logistics North America has appointed Stan Czeczotka manager of business development in its growing automotive logistics sector. He will be responsible for new business development for logistics services within the Tier 1 supplier ranks for automotive manufacturers. Czeczotka spent the last 15 years in the Tier 1 automotive community, working in the plastics, stamping, sensor and instrument-manufacturing industries.

TNT Express gears up for international media pitch

Parcel delivery service TNT Express has revealed it is talking to media agencies about its planning and buying business.

Andrew Huestis, the marketing and communications director of TNT Express, said the company was shortlisting agencies for the account and has yet to decide if the work will be on a European or international level. It is not known how much the account will be worth.

The news comes as the Netherlands-based business hired Wieden & Kennedy to its international advertising account following a competitive pitch against rivals including Bartle Bogle Hegarty. There was no incumbent on the account, although TNT has worked with J Walter Thompson in the past.
