DHL introduces drug delivery service to Nigeria

DHL International Nigeria Ltd have recently introduced a new delivery service for the transportation of medical samples like blood, semen, urine and other specimens from Nigeria to destinations across the world. The new package called World Medical Express (WMX) – an adaptation of DHL’s Worldwide Parcel Express (WPX) – is ideal for preliminary stages of new drug development as well as animal and human scientific studies. It is already in operation in Kenya and South Africa.

Dolph named head of marketing for UK TNT Mail service

TNT Mail has appointed Simon Dolph to the newly created role of head of marketing and communications.

Dolph moves from building society the Children’s Mutual, where he was a marketing consultant.

Dolph will be responsible for developing the TNT Mail brand and building awareness of the downstream access service ahead of its launch. TNT Mail will work with Royal Mail, which will deliver post on TNT’s behalf.

Dolph said: “This is a unique opportunity to be working for one of the most dynamic new entrants into the UK postal market.

“TNT Mail will be a breath of fresh air for customers to work with as it brings modern thinking to the way mail distribution and delivery operates in this country.”

Rivals fret as China Post unveils fast delivery bid

Foreign express freight operators on the mainland have voiced fair-play concerns over a new service launched by China Post to try to regain lost market share.

China Post lost its monopoly under World Trade Organisation competition rules which allowed foreign companies access to the mainland market two years ago.

China Post’s share of the burgeoning express delivery market has slumped from 97 per cent to under 40 per cent in the face of competition from DHL, FedEx, UPS and TNT.

Now China Post is fighting back with a new all-night freight service between 136 cities in 27 provinces. The service, without any increase in charges, will also focus on fast turnaround links between the hub of Shanghai and six major urban areas: Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Xiamen, Shenyang and Weifang.

DHL forms association with Mexican Bancomext

Jorge Ehnrenwald, director of Marketing at DHL, said that the mail company has formed an association with the National Foreign Trade Bank (Bancomext) in order to provide integral logistics solutions for small and medium-sized companies.

The executive said that the association was part of a project that DHL and Bancomext have been working on since 2002. He also mentioned that when a small company approaches Bancomext for advice on transport of goods, it will be directed towards DHL who will try to come up with solutions.
