Customers of FedEx Kinko’s Office and Print Centers will find staying connected on the road a little easier, now that nearly all 1,100 U.S. locations offer T-Mobile HotSpot wireless broadband service. The new service allows customers to wirelessly access the Internet, send documents for production, connect with their corporate networks and check e-mail.

FedEx Kinko’s locations offer customers the industry’s broadest range of business services and create an “office on the road” for companies with a distributed sales force or decentralized operations, a growing trend in business.

Teamsters meet with German union ver.di to build working relationship

Teamsters and German union ver.di leaders will hold an historic meeting on Monday in Cologne, Germany, in the wake of the recent merger of Deutsche Post-owned DHL and Airborne to discuss common issues.

Teamsters General President James P. Hoffa said the meeting will strengthen the relationship between ver.di, which represents DHL workers in Germany, and the Teamsters, who represent more than 10,000 workers at DHL Express in the U.S.

DHL wins Czech Investor of the Year award for 2003

Logistics company DHL was the most beneficial foreign investor in the Czech economy last year, according to results of the Investor of the Year 2003 contest, which government agency CzechInvest spokeswoman Jana Viskova presented to CTK. DHL will build a European service centre in Prague for nearly Kc5.8bn and create 866 new jobs.

IPA, UPS issue statement on move to mediation

UPS and the Independent Pilots Association (IPA), which represents the approximately 2,500 pilots who fly for UPS, announce the following:

The company and union have been in direct negotiations for a new pilot labor agreement since October 2002. Although the parties have utilized their best efforts over the past 22 months, no agreement has yet been reached in the contract areas of scheduling, compensation, pension, scope and benefits.

At this time, the parties believe the next logical step in reaching an agreement is to jointly request the mediation services of the National Mediation Board.
