Deutsche Post, Thiel Logistik in Talks

Deutsche Post World Net AG and Thiel Logistik AG [Luxembourg] are in talks for a possible cooperation, Thiel chairman Guether Thiel said in an interview with Monday’s Handelsblatt. Despite the company’s [Thiel’s] current low share price, Thiel does not see the company as a takeover target, but added that independence is, ‘no dogma for us.’ The company is open to a partnership with a ‘small European postal company,’ to help build up its logistics operations, although as yet there are no concrete plans, Thiel said. Germany to sell remainder of Deutsche Post

The German government plans legislation to free the sale of its remaining stake in Deutsche Post World Net, the recently-privatized global mail, express and logistics company. The German cabinet is set to approve changes in existing legislation which requires the government to hold a majority stake of 50% plus one share to ensure Deutsche Post provides a full service.
