Deutsche Post not considering stake in CargoLifter

Deutsche Post World Net AG denied it has held talks with CargoLifter AG on an advertising cooperation as well as on taking a stake in the financially troubled airship maker.
“Deutsche Post has not considered such a takeover and is currently not considering doing so,” said the logistics giant in a statement.
Earlier this week, CargoLifter denied reports it would have to file for insolvency.

DPWN Workers are Prepared to Strike

German union Verdi said on Friday it had called on workers at postal and logistics group Deutsche Post AG to prepare for a strike after a round of pay negotiations ended without a firm offer. ‘We are very disappointed because the employer does not follow its words with actions,’ the union said in a statement.

Brussels wants Deutsche Post to repay 300 mln Euros in state aid

The European Commission in Brussels wants Deutsche Post, the semi-privatised German postal authority, to repay up to 300 million euros (273 million dollars) in state aid, the financial daily Boersen-Zeitung reported on Friday, quoting “well-informed” sources.
EU competition commissioner Mario Monti hopes to have the issue settled before the summer break and is to talk about it with German Finance Minister Hans Eichel at their next meeting scheduled for May 23, the newspaper said.

German consumers find electricity savings and environmental choice at their Post Office

What can you get at a local post office? For German consumers, 5,000 postal outlets provide a convenient place where they can order their electricity, even choosing between “green” or conventional nuclear and fossil fuel power.
Over 50,000 consumers have signed electricity supply contracts at their postal outlets in the first six months of a program offered by Deutsche Post World Net, operator of Germany’s postal system.
So far, roughly 15,000 consumers – almost one in three signing contracts under the program – are opting for “green” power. Green producers market advantages such as how switching to green power can reduce CO2 emissions annually by two tons per household, or the equivalent of driving a car 6,200 miles.
