DHL invests in Leipzig/Halle airport

DHL is to increase its activities at Leipzig/Halle airport in eastern Germany. The German company is to increase the number of flights it carries out each day from five to nine and will also fly to new destinations in the UK and the Czech Republic. As of July, DHL will employ more than 240 people at Leipzig/Halle.

UK Parceline launches 'Homecall' service

Parceline has today announced a major move into the fast-growing home delivery market through a new partnership with Parcelnet, the specialists in final mile delivery to residential addresses. Launched under a new brand – ‘homecall’ – the service will begin on 1st June and is aimed at customers sending up to 600 parcels per night. Collections will be made by Parceline’s nationwide network of 1,700 vehicles operating from 42 depots whilst deliveries will be handled via Parcelnet’s 143 sub-depots and 5,000 ‘local couriers’. Parceline Sales Director Dwain McDonald said: “Internet shopping has seen home delivery volumes rise from 15m to 420m shipments in the last six years. Our partnership with Parcelnet gives us instant access to this market, without the need to build our own home delivery network.”

Czech DPD CZ Revenue Up 30 Pct 2005

Czech courier company Direct Parcel Distribution CZ (DPD CZ) reported a 30 pct year-on-year revenue growth for 2005, mainly due to the two-fold increase in the number of international shipments. The strong performance in 2005 was also a result of the economic upturn in the Czech Republic and the rising exports and imports, company CEO Daniel Mares said. DPD CZ handled nearly 5.0 million shipments, up by 25 pct year-on-year.

Delisting TNT Frankfurt Stock Exchange effective 1 June 2006

TNT N.V. today announced that the delisting from the Frankfurt Stock Exchange will be effective 1 June 2006. The last trading day is 31 May 2006. On February 20 2006 TNT announced its intentions to delist from both the London Stock Exchange and the Frankfurt Stock Exchange as costs for these listings are not justified by the low trading volume in TNT shares at both stock exchanges. The delisting from the London Stock Exchange became effective on 21 March 2006.
