DHL Air creates new jobs

Jobs have been created by leading air carrier DHL, which has just embarked on a multi-million pound revamp of its international air carrier business at East Midlands Airport. The company, which employs 1,200 people in the area, has spent £1.3 billion on 34 Boeing 757 aircraft to update and improve its parcel delivery service. The firm has also set up a new company, called DHL Air, to operate the aircraft in a move which has created about 100 jobs.

Correos y Telegrafos to partner with Iberdrola

Correos y Telegrafos, the Spanish post office, is in talks with Spanish power group Iberdrola with a view to providing, via its network of outlets, new services such as the setting up of contracts with Iberdrola, or the payment of electricity bills. The talks are withing the framework of the diversification strategy undertaken by Correos, which aims to make its network of 4,000 offices more profitable by offering new services.

Poste Italiane profits to rise

Corrado Passera, managing director of Italian postal service Poste, has presented the business plan for 2002-2004 which is based on developing more financial services as well as the logistics and package deliveries division. Net operating profits are expected to rise to 877.97m euros compared to 175.59m euros in 2001.
