FedEx Express Expands US Express Freight Service

Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp has expanded its US Express Freight Services to include Saturday delivery for FedEx 1Day(R) Freight, FedEx 2Day(R) Freight and FedEx International Priority(R) Freight shipments to several U.S. metropolitan markets. “By extending the same reliable Express Freight service to Saturday, shippers now have more time-definite delivery options for their high-value freight shipments,” said Dan Mullally, senior vice president of sales for FedEx Services. “This new expanded service reflects our ongoing commitment to help shippers reduce costs and achieve faster inventory turns.”

FedEx to handle international distribution for Avnet

Avnet Inc. has chosen FedEx to handle the bulk of its domestic and international shipments of electronic components, embedded systems and computing products to Avnet’s industrial customers in 68 countries. FedEx Express will handle domestic and international express deliveries, while FedEx Ground will handle domestic ground deliveries.

FedEx announces US rate increases

FedEx Corp. is raising its rates for air and ground shipments, effective Jan 5.

FedEx Express, the company’s cargo carrier, will boost rates an average of 2.5 percent for domestic and foreign shipments, the Memphis-based package delivery company announced. FedEx Ground domestic rates will increase an average of 1.9 percent. The move follows a similar announcement last month from UPS, FedEx’s chief rival.

FedEx Express launches direct China-U.S. flight

FedEx Express on Tuesday launched its first direct flight from the Chinese city of Shenzhen to its hub in Anchorage, Alaska. FedEx has been serving Shenzhen for several years via Japan and its Asian hub at Subic Bay in the Philippines.
The new MD-11 service, operating five days a week, provides customers in South China with 10:30 a.m. next-day delivery to North America, FedEx said. “With nearly 40 percent of all foreign direct investment flowing into China earmarked for the Pearl River Delta, the region has clearly become the primary driver of China’s booming economy,” said David L. Cunningham Jr., president of the Asia Pacific Division of FedEx Express, the largest operating unit of FedEx Corp.

FedEx Express adds Iraq service to global network

Federal Express Corp. has added Iraq to its global network, offering door-to-door pick up and delivery for shipments in and out of the cities of Baghdad, Basra and Mosul. “Iraq has the potential to be one of the fastest growing economies and will require integrated end-to-end transportation solutions,” said Hamdi Osman, regional vice president, FedEx Middle East, Indian Sub-Continent and Africa.
