Latvijas Pasts Postal co ready to represent Finland Post

Latvia’s state-owned postal service Latvijas Pasts plans to sign a cooperational agreement with the Finnish postal service Finland Post.

Gints Skodovs, CEO of Latvijas Pasts, said that the agreement is still being worked on, adding that they already cooperate in distributing catalogues.

The two companies plan to expand cooperation for logistics and delivery services in the Baltics and Poland, as well as Russia.

Finland Post to cut staff

Finnish national postal services provider Suomen Posti started layoff talks due to a planned restructuring of its office network, the company said on July 5, 2004. The Finnish post announced in May 2004 that it planned to streamline its office network in the next few years. The restructuring of the office network will be carried out in stages until the end of 2006. The move will enable the company to secure the jobs of its permanent staff. The layoff procedure will continue during the next two years.

Finland Post to outsource 50 offices

Finland Post Corporation (Suomen Posti Oyj) reportedly plans to outsource some 50 of its offices to private entrepreneurs.

The Finland Post Concern has only 300 service points it runs on its own, and by the end of 2007 this could reportedly decline to less than 100.
