Geodis the state-controlled French transport group. faces making a key decision on the future of its small UK subsidiary, Fortec Pallet Distribution Network. Fortec director Rod Abrahams, who joined the firm 6 months ago, will ask for the best part of £10m to develop a new pallet hub next to the exisiting depot on the A5, 3 miles west of J8 on the M1.

Geodis wins new IBM contract

Geodis has won a five-year contract to supply IBM with preand post-production logistics solutions for its Dublin plant.
Geodis is constructing a 30,000sq metre warehouse south of Dublin at Dun Laoghaire, due for completion by the end of the year.
Geodis is also in negotations with other Irish shippers over logistics contracts which will also be handled from the new facility, said a spokesman.

Geodis release 2001 results

Geodis, the French logistics group, said net loss over 2001 mounted to 138 million euro, up from a loss of 27 million euro in 2000. Net sales were up 2.4 per cent, to 3.5 billion euro, operating income was up 71 per cent, till 34.6 million euro. Diluted net loss per share was 26.42 euro, against 5.12 euro over 2000.
