India deals for FedEx

FedEx Corp. said Wednesday that it had signed operational agreements with two Indian companies as part of new major service initiatives in the sub-continent.

FedEx signed an operations agreement with Prakash Airfreight Pvt. Ltd. which will provide pick-up and delivery services. An agreement with Jeena & Co. will provide nationwide customs brokerage.

DHL picks India as one of the 3 key strategic markets in S Asia

DHL Worldwide Express, the worlds largest air express courier company with operations in more than 220 countries, has identified India among its three key strategic markets in Asia, the other two being China and Japan. “You would see substantial investment in future, not only brick-and-mortar but also in people. Postal employees plan protests

Employees of the postal department are planning a sustained protest against the Government’s move to amend the Indian Post Office Act, 1898. The proposed amendment is apparently intended to throw the postal sector open to private operators and, according to the postal unions, is a direct fall-out of the policy of “blind liberalisation and privatisation”.
