460,000 e-invoices delivered in Belgium in 2004

A total 460,000 e-invoices were delivered in Belgium in 2004, it was reported on April 12, 2005. Belgian electronic bill services provider Isabel registered 260,000 electronic invoices (e-invoices) in 2004, compared to 200,000 e-invoices by its competitor Certipost. According to Isabel and Certipost, the total number of invoices delivered in Belgium in 2004, stood between 800 million and 1.0 billion.

German Deutsche Post mulls bid for Belgium’s Post

German postal and logistics group Deutsche Post AG is considering to make an official bid to acquire a stake in Belgium’s 100 pct state-owned postal services company Post, Deutsche Post said on February 14, 2005. The Belgian Post has asked interested parties to submit their bids by the end of February 2005. Deutsche Post is currently considering the alternative whether to make a binding offer for the stake, Deutsche Post spokesman Dirk Klasen said.

TPG, France’s La Poste in joint bid for Belgian post stake

Dutch postal group TPG and French state-owned La Poste have formed a consortium to bid for a stake in Belgium’s state-owned postal service, Le Soir newspaper reported on Saturday. Deutsche Post World Net AG and the Swiss and Danish postal services are also potential bidders. The Belgian government will confirm the list of candidates in early March, and hopes to chose the winning bidder by the summer, the newspaper said.

Belgian Post returns to 36 Mln Euro profit in 2004

Belgian postal services company De Post/La Poste returned to profit posting 36 mln euro (USD46.9 mln) in 2004, compared to a 64 mln euro (USD83.3 mln) loss for 2003, it was reported on January 24, 2005. The company’s operating profit increased to 34 mln euro (USD44.3 mln) in the same period. It laid off some 2,000 employees through a natural attrition programme in 2003 and 2004. Currently, the company has 37,920 full-time employees.
